Dollywood's Harvest Festival and Great Pumpkin LumiNights

Dates: Through October 31
Location: Dollywood, Pigeon Forge
One of the biggest fall events in the Smokies lasts nearly the entire month.
Dollywood's Harvest Festival combines the park's regular rides and attractions with seasonal food and more than 700 live performances during the festival. After sunset, Great Pumpkin LumiNights lights up the park with more than 12,000 glowing pumpkins.
Among the displays is a 40-foot pumpkin tree, Hoot Owl Hollow, and Dolly's giant illuminated guitar.
Both the Harvest Festival and Great Pumpkin LumiNights are included with regular Dollywood admission.
See the 2026 Dollywood Harvest Festival schedule.
Oktoberfest at Ober Gatlinburg

Dates: Through November 1
Location: Ober Gatlinburg
You don't have to leave the Smokies to get a taste of Oktoberfest.
Ober Gatlinburg's annual celebration brings Bavarian-inspired food, live entertainment, games, seasonal decorations, and plenty of fall atmosphere to the mountain above downtown Gatlinburg.
The event lasts throughout October, making it easy to add to a Gatlinburg day without planning your entire trip around one particular weekend.
Pair it with a morning in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, an afternoon exploring downtown Gatlinburg, and a trip up the mountain for Oktoberfest.
Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair
Dates: October 8–28
Time: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily
Location: Gatlinburg Convention Center
The fall Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair brings more than 200 booths of handmade products to the Gatlinburg Convention Center for three weeks in October.
Artists and craftspeople demonstrate their work while visitors browse pottery, woodworking, leatherwork, jewelry, art, candy, and other handmade products.
Daily live music is also included with admission.
Because the entire event is indoors, it's worth remembering if rain shows up during your October trip.
Admission is $12 for adults, while children 17 and younger are free with a paid adult.
See details for the Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair.
The Apple Festival at The Apple Barn

Dates: October 9–11
Location: The Apple Barn, Sevierville
Admission: Free
The Apple Barn is celebrating 50 years of growing apples in the Smokies in 2026, and there's still one more festival weekend left this October.
The Apple Festival includes live bluegrass, antique tractors, orchard wagon tours, farm demonstrations, family activities, apple treats, cider, and food.
The history behind this one is pretty neat, too. Bill Kilpatrick and business partner Bon Hicks planted the farm's first apple trees in 1976. Fifty years later, the property has become one of the most recognizable stops in Sevierville.
The second festival weekend runs:
- Friday, October 9: Noon–7 p.m.
- Saturday, October 10: 10 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Sunday, October 11: 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Admission and parking are free.

Wears Valley Fall Fest
Dates: October 16–18
Location: 3179 Wears Valley Road, Sevierville
If you're looking for something that feels a little more local, put Wears Valley Fall Fest on the list.
The three-day festival takes place across 16 acres in Wears Valley and features more than 240 artisan crafters, regional live music, food vendors, children's activities, and mountain views.
It's also hard to beat the location.
Wears Valley sits between Pigeon Forge and Townsend with the mountains rising around it, and the middle of October can be a beautiful time to explore this side of the Smokies.
See the 2026 Wears Valley Fall Fest schedule.
Fall at Kyker Farms
Dates: Through October 31
Location: Kyker Farms, Sevierville
Corn maze? Check.
Pumpkin patch? Check.
Hayrides? Also check.
Kyker Farms is a working Tennessee Century Farm that has been operated by the Kyker family for nine generations. During October, it turns into one of the area's classic family fall experiences.
There are four corn mazes along with hayrides, a pumpkin patch, slides, a corn tub, swings, a zip line, farm animals, concessions, and other activities.
For the 2026 season, Kyker Farms is open Thursday through Sunday through October 31.
See hours and admission for Kyker Farms.
Pigeon Forge Rotary Club Craft Fair
Dates: Through October 24
Time: 10 a.m.–6 p.m. daily
Location: Patriot Park, Pigeon Forge
Admission: Free, with donations accepted
If you see the big craft tent at Patriot Park while driving through Pigeon Forge, stop and take a look.
The annual Pigeon Forge Rotary Club Craft Fair features handmade goods from artisans and craft vendors, including jewelry, pottery, woodworking, quilts, candles, home decor, and other locally made items.
Admission and parking are free, with freewill donations benefiting local charities.
It's also conveniently located beside The Old Mill, making the two easy to combine into one stop.
See details from Pigeon Forge.
Harvey's Boo Bash at Dollywood
Dates: October 16, 23 & 30
Time: 9 p.m.–midnight
Location: Dollywood, Pigeon Forge
This one is brand new for 2026.
Harvey's Boo Bash is Dollywood's first separately ticketed after-hours special event. It's being held on three Friday nights during the final half of October.
The limited-capacity event includes candy-collecting stations, character meet-and-greets, dance parties, themed food, and access to a selection of Dollywood attractions after regular park hours.
Unlike Great Pumpkin LumiNights, Boo Bash requires a separate ticket.
Boo Bash runs from 9 p.m. until midnight, and ticket holders can enter Dollywood beginning at 4 p.m. on their event date. That gives visitors time to experience the Harvest Festival and Great Pumpkin LumiNights before the after-hours event begins.
See Harvey's Boo Bash details.
History & Haunts in Downtown Sevierville
Date: October 22
Time: 6–8 p.m.
Location: Historic Downtown Sevierville
Admission: Free
Downtown Sevierville gets a little spooky on October 22.
History & Haunts is a family-friendly evening featuring historical activities, wagon rides, costume contests, games, vendors, a Halloween dance party, and other activities around downtown.
There's even a costume contest for dogs, so apparently the humans aren't the only ones expected to dress up.
The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. around historic downtown Sevierville.
Which October Event Should You Choose?
If you only have a few days in the Smokies, you obviously aren't going to hit everything.
For families with younger kids: Try Kyker Farms, The Apple Barn's Apple Festival, or Dollywood's Harvest Festival.
For arts and local craftsmanship: Head to the Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair, Pigeon Forge Rotary Club Craft Fair, or Wears Valley Fall Fest.
For an evening event: Great Pumpkin LumiNights and Oktoberfest at Ober Gatlinburg are easy to work into a day spent doing something else.
For Halloween: Harvey's Boo Bash and History & Haunts become the bigger options during the second half of October.
For a more local Smokies experience: Wears Valley Fall Fest is one we'd put near the top of the list.
Don't Forget About Fall Color
The events aren't the only reason October is such a popular time to visit the Smokies.
Fall color begins developing at the highest elevations before gradually moving into the middle and lower elevations as October progresses. That means your best place to see color can change significantly depending on when you're visiting.
If seeing the leaves is a major part of your trip, read our 2026 Smoky Mountains Fall Color Guide before deciding where to go.

Find What's Happening With SmokiesApp
One of the hardest parts about visiting the Smokies isn't finding something to do. It's knowing everything that's happening while you're here.
A festival might be posted on one website. Live music is somewhere else. A restaurant special is on Facebook. A local event might be happening ten minutes away and you never know about it until after your trip.
That's one of the problems we're building SmokiesApp to solve.
SmokiesApp brings events, attractions, restaurants, deals, hikes, and live updates together to help you discover what's happening around Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Townsend, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Because sometimes the best part of a Smoky Mountain trip is the thing you didn't know was happening until you got here.
