The Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair isn't a small craft market. The event fills approximately 150,000 square feet of the Gatlinburg Convention Center with more than 200 booths featuring artists and craftspeople from across the country.

Everything represented at the fair is handmade, and exhibitors go through a jury process before participating. Visitors can expect pottery, jewelry, leatherwork, woodworking, copper art, paintings, photography, handmade candy, holiday items, and plenty of things that are difficult to fit neatly into one category.

One of the things that makes the fair more interesting than simply shopping is the opportunity to watch craftspeople work. Many exhibitors demonstrate how their pieces are made and answer questions about their craft throughout the event.

This Is the Fair's 51st Year

The Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair is celebrating its 51st year in 2026, making it a longtime part of Gatlinburg's arts and crafts scene.

That connection makes sense in a town with a deep history of craftsmanship. Gatlinburg and the surrounding mountains have long been associated with woodworking, pottery, weaving, painting, basketmaking, and other Appalachian crafts.

The October fair brings many of those traditions together with artists and makers from elsewhere in the country, all under one roof in downtown Gatlinburg.

There's Live Music Every Day

Shopping and craft demonstrations aren't the only things happening during the fair. Live music performances are scheduled every day at noon and 3 p.m., and they're included with admission.

The 2026 schedule includes country, gospel, and bluegrass throughout the three-week event.

October 8–14: The Dennis Lee Band
October 15–16: Misty River
October 17–20: Mountain Highway
October 21–22: Misty River
October 23–24: Mountain Highway
October 25–28: The Po' Ramblin' Boys

That gives visitors another reason to pay attention to when they visit, particularly if there's a performer they'd like to see.

Your $12 Admission Can Cover More Than One Day

One detail that's easy to miss is that you don't necessarily have to see the entire fair in one visit.

Adult admission is $12, while children 17 and younger are admitted free with a paid adult. Tickets are sold at the entrances to the Gatlinburg Convention Center rather than online.

After entering, adults can take their ticket and photo ID to the fair office at the end of Aisle 500 and receive a free multi-day pass. That allows you to return throughout the remainder of the fair without purchasing another admission.

That's particularly useful if you're staying in Gatlinburg for several days and don't want to spend most of one afternoon trying to see all 200-plus booths.

It's Also a Good Rainy-Day Option

October weather in the Smokies can change quickly, and the Craftsmen's Fair has one major advantage over many fall activities: it's indoors.

If rain disrupts a planned hike, scenic drive, or afternoon in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the fair can be an easy backup without leaving downtown Gatlinburg.

It's also something you can combine with other nearby attractions rather than treating it as an all-day commitment. Visit the fair for a few hours, walk downtown, grab dinner, or head up to Oktoberfest at Ober Gatlinburg later in the day.

October Is a Busy Time in Gatlinburg

The Craftsmen's Fair arrives during one of the busiest periods of the year in the Smokies. Fall color is beginning to develop across the mountains, Dollywood's Harvest Festival is underway in Pigeon Forge, Oktoberfest is happening at Ober Gatlinburg, and numerous other fall events are taking place throughout Sevier County.

That also means traffic and parking can become part of the experience, particularly on weekends.

The Gatlinburg Convention Center is located at 234 Airport Road with another pedestrian entrance at 920 Parkway, making the fair walkable from much of downtown Gatlinburg. If you're already staying or spending the day downtown, walking or using Gatlinburg's transportation options may be easier than moving your vehicle during busy periods.

Is the Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair Worth Visiting?

If you enjoy handmade art, local craftsmanship, unique gifts, or simply want an indoor break during a fall trip, it's an easy event to recommend.

It's particularly appealing if you're already visiting downtown Gatlinburg because you don't have to build an entire day around it. You can spend a couple of hours browsing the fair and then continue with whatever else you have planned.

And with the event running for three weeks, you don't have to be in town for one specific festival weekend to experience it.
